Back on their travels, Cullompton faced league leaders Sidmouth, who would be looking for revenge, after their loss at Cullompton early last month.
Sidmouth kicked off on a bumpy pitch and with quite a strong wind, any passing game would be challenging.
Both sides found the conditions difficult, and neither were able to get any control on the game. However, on 23 minutes Sidmouth were awarded a penalty, a decision that seemed quite baffling from the touchline. Never the less, Sidmouth’s skipper stepped up to score.
Cullompton had two great chances to equalise, with Aiden fluffing his lines on both occasions.
Just as Cullompton seemed to be growing into the game, a dreadful pass deep into their opponents half allowed Sidmouth to break away to score their second goal.
Not a good time to concede another goal, as there was no time for the restart with the referee bringing the half to an end.
The second half began with Cullompton making a couple of substitutions. It was not the start that the manager was looking for, when straight from the kick off, Sidmouth intercepted another poor pass, breaking forward to score their third goal with a deflected shot.
This seemed to knock the stuffing out of Cullompton as well their discipline; a part of their game that has been a key part of their season so far.
Sidmouth on the other hand were well up for it and went on to add three further goals, capitalising on Cullompton’s lacklustre display.
Final score Sidmouth 6 Cullompton 0.
