- New groundsman appointed.
The Club are pleased to announce that they haveappointed a new groundsman to help relieve the workload of Marcus Scott who currently looks after the Edenvale Park pitch. Adam Ferbrache will take over the maintenace of the main pitch whilst Marcus will continue to upkeep the remaing pitches. Marcus was delighted with the news that Adam wanted to join the Club “He has an excellent track record having looked after local pitches and he is keen to expand his knowledge and to maintain the high quality of the playing surface that the Club is well known for. I am not getting any younger so this is a great load off of my mind knowing that the future of the pitch at Edenvale Park is in good hands.”
2. When will we play football again?
We expect some news on this next week. Step 6 football which we play in has had the season curtailed by the FA. We must wait until next week to get the results of feedback from all the Clubs in the SWPL to find out if the consensus of opinion is that we hold a supplementary cup competition(Covid Cup) which will be regionally based in groups of 5 along with the Walter Parsons League KO Cup should the league be declared null and void. We would back this proposal on the assumption that we would be able to welcome supporters and open the Clubhouse for outside drinks as per Covid rules.
3. Eastern Relief Road.
We were originally told that work would start in the Winter of 2021. There appears to be some doubt about this happening now. I will try to get some updated information from DCC/MDDC so watch this space.
4. 6 A Side Tournament.
This was planned for 17/18 July. We are currently in discussion with our Youth Section as to whether this should go ahead. A decision will be made withing the next 7 days. Again, watch this space.
5. Ground maintenance.
We are aiming to tidy up the stand at Edenvale Park with a lick of paint and replacement of the existing seating in an attemt to prevent the continuing problem that we have with vandalism. Kep a lookout on the website as we will be looking for volunteers when the work starts.
